How to create vSphere Standard Switch in vSphere 5.5

Creating vSphere Standard Switch

 Select the host where you need to create the standard switch.

Go to Right panel, select “Configuration” tab and Click “Networking”.

In the networking window, click “Add Networking” option on the right side of the window to open the “Add Network Wizard”.

Connect Types:

  • Select “Virtual Machine” (As we are creating the network connection for virtual machine traffic)

Note: VMkernel option is used to handle the traffic like vMotion,NFS,iSCSI,Host Management. (Depends on your requirement).

Click Next.

Select “Create a vSphere standard switch”.

Click Next.

Connection Settings: Update the Port Group properties.

  • Network Label: Provide the network label to identify in the Network Connection (******* Network).
  • VLAN ID (Optional).

Click Next.

Summary the details and Click Create.

******* Network has been created under vSphere Standard Switch, Now we can assign the network connection to the VMs.
