Minimum:
- 32 GB Disk Space
- 2 GB Memory (512 MB Core version)
- 1 GB throughput
- UEFI 2.3.1c
- 1.4 GHz and 64-bit Processor
- TPM 2.0
Windows Server 2022 – New Features
As per Microsoft, there are three editions in Windows Server 2022 -- Datacenter, Standard and Essentials.
List of key important new features in Windows Server 2022.
- Defence-in-depth protection in security and Certified Secured-core server hardware
- TPM with secure crypto-processor chips.
- Now Core server supports virtualization-based security (VBS).
- HTTPS/TLS 1.3 are default in Server 2022.
- Windows Server 2022 version now supports DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH).
- SMB AES-256 encryption and compression.
- Storage Migration Service.
- Hyper-V Virtual Switch, TCP and UDP - Improved network performance.
Download ISO file
To download the ISO evaluation version, navigate to the Microsoft website and you can download the ISO file which is valid for 180 days.

Follow the steps to login and download the Evaluation version of the server.

Virtual Machine Creation
Login to the vmware console with the admin privilege to create a virtual machine.
Upload the windows server 2022 ISO file in the vmware datastore to mount in the vm machine.
Click Upload option.
You can check the upload status in the console.
To create the Windows 2022 server, Right click on the “Virtual machine” > Click “Create/Register VM” – Installation wizard will appear.
Select the “Create a new virtual machine” in the creation type window and click Next.
Enter the name of the server “W2022” in the select a name window (Name should not unique, once the name is created, Server name cannot be changes in the datastore).
Select the “OS Family as Windows” and “OS Version as Windows Server 2019(64-bit)” in the same window.
Note: Windows Server 2022 will not be listed in the ESXi 7.0.0(Build 15843807) or lower.
Click Next
Select the respective “datastore” in the Storage window and click Next.
In Customize settings, leave all the specification to default (As we selected windows 2019 server in the OS version).
Enable the CD/DVD Drive and change the option to “Datastore ISO file”.
Click Check box or Enable “Connect at Power on” option and Browse to the connect the ISO file from the datastore and click Next.
Finally, all your setting details will be listed. Check the details and Click finish.
Deploy Windows 2022 Server in vmware
Power on the machine “W2022” and Click “Any key” to boot from CD/DVD.
Select the “Language/Time format and keyboard” and Click “Next”.
Select the operating system which you want to install or simply select the “Windows Server 2022 Standard Evaluation (Desktop Experience) and Click Next.
Click “Install Now”.
Read and Agree the Terms and condition, Click Next.
Select “Custom” option to proceed with the installation.
As the newly provisioned disk was not allocated initally, click “New” option to allocate the space and Click apply.
Click on the “Primary Partition” and Click “Next”.
Installation Status
Enter the local “User name and Password” to finish the installation.
Login with the local user name and password.
